a mini vacation, a bare bum and slugs getting freaky

Nick took a week off of work and we decided to head to Kennewick. It was nice to see our families and to enjoy some real summer weather!

We spent a lot of time playing in Grandma's backyard. These two are so cute together!

His big brother is always able to get a smile from this little guy.

A little self promotion... shameless I know.

Blake has become very mobile. He loves running around and chasing his brother.

Which usually results in this.

We also spent some time at a few local parks. Mr. Monkey here just hanging out.

Blake LOVES the slides. He's totally fearless too. All you have to do is set him at the top of a slide and he will lean himself forward and slide down. Then he turns around and tries to climb back up.

There were a lot of splash parks in Kennewick. Cole was kind of a baby and never actually got wet in any of them.

Poor baby ended up being in the wrong place and the wrong time when the water randomly turned on. Nick had to run in and save him, I mean Hello, I had the camera!

And best of all, we spent a few days at Grandma's pool. Cole was a wimp at first and would only go in like this.

Mr. Fearless here would just run straight into the pool. Over and over. We had to keep a very close eye on him.

Daddy doing double duty.

Finally we showed Cole that he could stand up in the shallow end and he started being a little braver.

By the end of the day, he didn't want to leave. I think it's time for some swimming lessons. Well, after he figures out the whole potty thing.

And that was our trip to Kennewick!

Now just a couple little bonus pictures.

You should sing this song in your head while viewing this photo:

And as you've heard we have a few pet slugs. 4 of them actually. The other night I went to shut off the light it Cole's play room and noticed that there was something weird going on in their tank. Yep, that's right the slugs were getting their groove on. Slugs mating is definitely one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen. The big white thing in between them is their genitalia sticking out of their bodies. Weird, I know. And you're welcome for this image, now it will be forever ingrained in your mind, as it is in mine.
P.S. They were at it again a few nights later. They share their cage with 2 other slugs... um awkward... get a room you two, or at least a rock.

  1. Great post! Glad you got a picture of:
    1. The bare butt - you know for future girlfriends/prom dates, etc.
    2. The mating slugs! You don't see that every day!

  2. I love your family. 'Nuff said. And I also love snail genitalia. So hot. But I agree, they do need to get a room. ;)
